Start with the support target

A sports bra brief should state the intended activity and support expectation before a pattern is finalized. Running, training, yoga and lifestyle use can require different combinations of coverage, compression, strap tension, neckline, underband and cup or pad construction.

Use the sample to check construction, not only appearance

A sample should be reviewed on body for stability and comfort as well as visual detail. Check underband recovery, strap adjustment or tension, cup position, armhole coverage, fabric opacity, stretch recovery, seam placement and how branding behaves on the chosen construction.

Make size and measurement decisions explicit

A grade rule that works in one sample size may not automatically work across the range. Confirm the base size, measurement points, size range and tolerance expectations before production. Keep the sample comments, measurement notes and branding details together so the production team is working from one current reference.

Plan QC around the risk points

Before release, quality checks should match the approved support and construction decisions: measurements, workmanship, stretch recovery, pad or cup construction where applicable, strap and underband assembly, logo placement, labels, packaging and carton preparation.

Avoid treating a sports bra as a generic top

Sports bra development benefits from a focused first bulk order with clear support, fit and sample decisions. It is usually safer to confirm the construction route before adding multiple fabric options, support levels or unresolved colorways.
